Top 5 musical events not to be missed in Strasbourg at Christmas

When you think of Christmas in France, you inevitably think that Strasbourg is part of it, right? How can you not think of the most famous Christmas market in Alsace , with its culinary specialties, songs and warm atmosphere? The Bas-Rhin is lively in December, and that's why we have prepared a program of cultural outings not to be missed! Discover the top 5 events to participate in in Strasbourg this winter (for children, and for adults!).  

1. The New Year's concert of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra  

On December 31, 2024 at 8 p.m., the musicians of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra as well as 13 professional singers, accompanied by a choir of 70 amateur singers, will come together under the direction of conductor Pascal Horecka to sing Christmas and the New Year. 

Among the few works that will be played, you will find:  

  • Adolphe Adam - O Holy Night
  • Hugh Martin - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
  • James Pierpont - Jingle Bells
  • George Gershwin - Catfish Row
  • Georg Friedrich Handel - Hallelujah of the Messiah

2. The lyrical hour of Christmas with the Mastery of the National Opera of the Rhine  

The young singers of the Maitrise de l'OnR will sing magnificent Christmas carols on December 20, 2024 at 8 p.m., accompanied by Luciano Bibiloni, artistic and musical director of the Maitrise de l'OnR.  

The Maitrise brings together 150 singers, between 7 and 18 years old, divided into six choral ensembles according to their age, experience and vocal maturity: the Vocal Garden, the Preparatory Choir, the Intermediate Choir, the Children's Choir, the Adolescent Choir and the Men's Choir.

3. The Rabeats, ode to the Beatles  

On Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 5 p.m. at the Zénith in Strasbourg, The Rabeats, a group of 4 friends who are absolute fans of the Beatles, will be on stage to play and sing the Beatles' greatest hits.

4. I Will Love You, Michel Sardou's greatest hits  

The musical Je Vais t'Aimer is touring throughout France, and on Friday, September 20 at 8 p.m., the troupe will perform at the Zénith in Strasbourg.

5. Frozen, an enchanted ice princess  

A huge Disney hit with young and old alike, Frozen is the ultimate film to watch during the holiday season! Strasbourg is hosting the film on December 13 at the Vox cinema, at 7:30 p.m. to offer a crazy experience: a karaoke cinema! Songs and fanaticism will be there... “Let it go, let it go” 🎶
